It was remarkable!
There were white vans every where!
Each team goes all out and has fun decorating their vans. Some teams were quite entertaining. They would dress up in full costumes, or tutus, or nerd attire to match their team name. They're crazy! I would not want to run in all of that!Ninny Muggin Van #1
Ninny Muggin Van #2
There's a tradition where runners count their "kills."
That's when you pass someone running.
I had 2 the entire race.
But they gave me bonus points for random acts of kindness :) and for never throwing up.
Which totally happens.
Runners puking mid run.
And yes it was still fun!Lots of runners end up in tears during the race.
Everyone is so exhausted and sleep deprived.
The one time I got choked up was watching my nephew run in.
He is 13 and was a last minute fill in.
You would hear the crowd start saying things like, "Whoa!
Look at that little kid running in!"
And then strangers would cheer louder than I ever heard them cheer for anyone else.
Rhett you were awesome!!He was the last to run for van #1.
Now it was time for our turn.
{Gulp}
This was the typical scene.
The next runner stretching and going potty.Rhett handed off to Janice.
Janice was amazing and so fun to hang out with!
She handed off to me!
Aaaahhhh!!!! My turn! Sooooo nervous!!Here I go!
Me forgetting to start my watch!
Me not seeing the turn left sign and everyone yelling at me to turn!
Here's me and my 2 kills of the whole race.
I chuckle everytime I look at this picture.
The only 2 people I passed was a girl walking with a cramp, and man completely stopped with a hurt knee.
Haha!
Go me!After the first couple miles I'm thinking, Oh ok.
I think I got the hang of this.
This isn't so bad.
I can do this!Leg 1 down!
Me passing off to Shane.Shane passing off to Jake.
These two are pro.
They are incredible runners.Jake passing off to his wife Jenny.
These two are the sweetest! This is the support I was talking about.
I loved it!
Here's the team stopping to take pics of Jenny and give her water and give her a couple "woot! woots!"Tyler getting ready looking a little nervous.
Jenny passed off to Tyler.
Go babe!He loved it!
It feels so good when you finish!
It's extremely exhilarating!Getting ready for our second run.
This was our NIGHT RUN!
Brrrr! It was chilly!!
It was so hard for me to get my legs to move at 1:30am!Lance, our chauffeur and his wife Janice bundled up.
Trying to get some sleep when you can!
This is at one of the exchange points where we swapped vans and van #1 gets to go rest, while van #2 runs. Look at the people in the background. That's where people slept! Craziness! Our team captain, my awesome sister in law, knows how to do this though. We got a hotel! With a shower! These people are hard core!
Me coming in after my last run!
Halle. Freakin. Lujah.
My last run was my favorite though!
Weird because I was so tired and sore but it was so nice running to a finish line!
But check out the girl in front of me.
I wish upon a star to be her someday.
She was an incredible runner. Oh and look who I ran into!!
Ami!!
She was incredible too!
I think the girl above was on her team.
They did awesome!Chillin while waiting for Tyler to run in!
He was our very last runner.
I was so nervous for him!
I couldn't sit still.
I just wanted to see his face!He made it and our whole team ran to the finish line together!
WE DID IT!!
Hip Hip Hooray!!I thought Ragnar did really well at taking care of it's runners.
They always had snacks and drinks at every big exchange.
The whole environment was so fun.
At the finish line they gave us an envelope with a couple things inside that said,"What the farfignewton? You just ran 200 miles...for an envelope?" Lol! We went and celebrated at Texas Road House for dinner.
Yum.
It was a fun and unique experience!
We both think it would fun to do other ones.
Maybe after a little more training first though!
