Ouch

Oh. So. Pain. Ful.
I need some IcyHot.
What were we thinking!?
Yesterday was our 1st day officially training for…

Tyler and I are doing Ragnar!

{For my own records so I can remember if I improve at all…I jogged 5 miles in 62 min.- average of 12.4 minute miles. Don't laugh. I thought that was pretty good for my 1st day of training. I can keep going and going...but I like to do it slowly :) I didn’t think I would be so sore, but apparently running on the ground in a lot different than running on the treadmill as it helps whip my feet back for me. Tyler did 4.5 miles in 40 minutes. average of 8.8 minute miles. Go babe!}

201.2 miles + 12 crazy people + 2 days = My first Ragnar Relay
They’re slogan is:
Run. Drive. Sleep. Repeat.
We will run from Wickenburg to Tempe.
Who in their right mind would do this!?
Oh…us.

From what I hear it’s like this:
You and 11 of your closest friends running day and night, relay-style,
through some of the most scenic terrain. Add
in inside jokes and a mild case of sleep deprivation. The
result? Some call it a slumber party without sleep, pillows or
deodorant. We call it a Ragnar Relay...

An average Ragnar Relay team consists of 12 members. During the relay, each team member runs three legs, with each leg ranging between 3-9 miles and varying in difficulty. Each team is responsible for providing two support vehicles, with six runners in each vehicle. The first vehicle drops off the first runner, drives ahead a few miles, cheers the runner on, and provides them with water, snacks and plenty of love. That vehicle then drives ahead to the first exchange point to drop off the second runner, and picks up the first runner when that leg is complete. They repeat this pattern for six legs until they hand off to their second vehicle. This leapfrogging pattern continues day and night all the way to the finish line. The legs are set up so the elite runner down to the novice jogger can participate. (Your average team pace just needs to be around 11 min/mile or faster so that your team has enough time to finish the race within the two-day window.)

I have always loved running/jogging/walking.
But only at my own pace.
I hate races & competing.
And I swore I would never pay them money to do crazy running like this.
But I am.
And I might admit I’m a little excited.
{but a lot nervous}

Our awesome team is the
Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins.
Yup that's our real team name.
I love it. {Thanks Buddy Elf. You make me smile. Smiling's my favorite :) }

We have 47 days until the fun begins.
I can’t wait!
